Kind Find #2 is embarrassingly low-effort, which is exactly why it’s earned a permanent spot on my shower shelf.

Shower steamers are little tablets you set on the shower floor, away from the direct spray, and as the steam builds it releases the scent — eucalyptus, lavender, sometimes a menthol-y one for the days I feel like I’m fighting off whatever the kids brought home from school. You don’t do anything differently. You just take the shower you were already going to take, except now it smells like a spa instead of a bathroom three kids have been in and out of all day.
Why this one made the list
I almost didn’t include this one because it feels too small to write a whole post about. But that’s actually the point of this whole “Kind Finds” section — not everything has to be a big wellness overhaul. Some days the only self-care window I get is the four minutes I’m alone in the shower before someone knocks on the door, and eucalyptus steam turning that into something that feels intentional, instead of just another task, matters more than it should.
There’s actual reasoning behind why it works beyond “nice smell” too — eucalyptus in particular is commonly used in aromatherapy for its cooling, clearing effect, and the ritual of steam plus scent is a well-documented way to cue your nervous system that it’s time to downshift. I’m not claiming it’s medicine. I’m saying it’s the difference between a shower and a moment.
